Candombe is the name for a drum based music of Uruguay. The Afro-Uruguayan population of Montevideo originated the Candombe. Its culture origins are from the Bantu African drumming. Some tango and European influence were mixed in.

There is a competition of Candombe groups in the Teatro de Verano during the Carnival and 80 or more groups perform in Las Llamdas a massive parade.
