Montevideo Uruguay's Carnival Museum won Spain's Queen Sofia prize this year and the City is making all-out effort to make the city the Ibero-American carnival capital too which will lead cities in South America who also celebrates carnivals such as Tenerife, Cádiz, Río de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires and Valparaiso. The carnival in Uruguay takes place mostly in Montevideo last for 40 day starting January with lots of parades and street theater events.
