PLUNA (Primeras Líneas Uruguayas de Navegación Aérea) is Uruguay's national airline that is based in Montevideo. It flies within South America and to Spain and hold Carrasco International Airport as its main base.
PLUNA was owned by the Uruguayan government up to 2007 and it was sold to Leadgate, a German - based investment firm.
This year, they operated with a fleet of five aircraft which consists of a Boeing 767, 757 and 3 old generation Boeing 737s. They used to have flight from Montevideo to Madrid but with worsening economy it was dropped September after realizing a loss of $2 million per month.
