Pocitos Apartments - Short & Long Term Rentals in Montevideo, Uruguay Interview

By Interviewer at 10/17/09 16:25

Name of your website?

Pocitos Apartments - Short & Long Term Rentals in Montevideo, Uruguay

Your name?

Byron Lutz

Your Location (city, etc)

Montevideo

Please give us a short summary of your website?

This website is for a building offering furnished apartments, aimed at tourists, for long and short term stays in Pocitos, Montevideo, Uruguay.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

Marketing. Previously almost all renters came by word of mouth, so few people knew about us.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

A travel website, many years ago, first as a bulletin board dial-up site and later as part of the World WIde Web.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

It describes what is being offered.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

It's not TOTALLY different than others, but meets a need because folks always need options for accommodations when traveling. It is, however, the closest rentals to the beach in Pocitos.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

Just continued marketing.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

I do very little work on the site. It just points people to me.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I'd probably expand the site to offer local tourist into, reviews of restaurants and facilities, a calendar of events, feedback from travelers, etc. etc. etc. However I don't see that happening at the moment.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

It won't get big unless we offer free rooms and free food -- which isn't going to happen!

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

None up to now.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Filling out info providing links to the site, like I'm doing now.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

I'm just starting this process.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

This one has a limited function, and directed at a narrow clientele.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

I think I've had it about six months, but have done little with it except email folks with the web address when they wanted info

What is your website address?
